Galaad - Eau de Parfum

The knight of the sacred mountain
Out of Egypt come caravans to fetch myrrh in my land of Galaad. My name is the same as that of the land that witnessed my birth, for I am Galaad, the knight of the Holy Mountain. The land is rich with honey from our hives, tall cedars that shade them and resins brought to Pharaoh. With frankincense, cypress and dried grass from Atlantis, we refine the precious balm used by the lords of the East to perfume themselves.

The land of Galaad was originally the land of Myrrh, which today lies in Jordan. Caravans from Egypt came here to get supplies of Lebanon cedar and myrrh. We have imagined a character, a protégé of European origins who, in the Middle Ages, set up his fiefdom in these parts and cultivated their riches. The Galaad of Arthurian legend, was a Knight of the Round Table. Because he had a pure heart, he could gaze upon the Holy Grail without befalling a disastrous fate. Following the defeat of Acre in 1291 and the fall of the Christian states in the Middle East, many of these protégés came to live in the countries of Christian Europe, whence their ancestors hailed. They brought with them oriental customs, and often attracted the wrath of the church that reproached them for their sensuality and refined lifestyle.
